Could it be that we are 2 years away from the end of the world? Mayan Calendars run out in 2012 and it is causing a fair amount of concern. Should we be concerned about "THE END"? According to Jesus words we don't need to be concerned. Revelation 1:7 tells us Jesus is coming, while it says nothing about the Mayan calendar we know Jesus is coming. When Jesus comes the good news is that it fixes everything. It fixes sin, fixes sickness, and fixes us just to name a few things. To me that is not scary. God is in the business of saving you in fact I can not think of an act of God that is not done with the end goal of saving your soul in mind. The flood was meant to save those who would join Noah, creation was meant to keep God's people in a saved state while they stayed with there creator. This year I have chosen "Out Of Laodicea" as a theme for our church. When you look at Revelation 3 the church of Laodicea needs to understand there real condition and come to Christ to remedy there condition. Christ pleads with us in Revelation 3:19 to be zealous in the greek it means take a stand. This week lets take a stand on "The End" Whether the Mayans were onto something or not to me it doesn't matter Jesus said in Mark 13:32 Only the father knows the day and hour of his coming. Taking a stand on "The End" means that we leave the time to God the Father. We don't push him, and please please please don't delay him! But when we take a stand about the end of time we are saying we trust that whatever happens the God who has seen us through thus far will see us through the end. Jesus does say that we can watch. Tangibly watching means we are busy about the masters business, being kind to our neighbors, looking for lost saints and pointing them to a God who saves not a God who is dying to fry them in a lake of fire. Taking a stand on the end means that we proclaim in our conduct that we are 100% certain that God will see us through. So bring on the Mayan calendar, the loss of religious liberty, even persecution, my God has faced much tougher times than this world can deliver. I feel pretty safe in the palm of his hand. How about you?
With Love, Pastor Matthew
